Bahá'í House of Worship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Bahá'í House of Worship, sometimes referred to by its Arabic name of Mashriqu'l-Adhkár (Arabic: مشرق اﻻذكار‎, "Dawning-place of the remembrances of God"), is the designation of a place of worship, or temple, of the Bahá'í Faith. The teachings of the religion envision Houses of Worship being surrounded by a number of dependencies dedicated to social, humanitarian, educational, and scientific pursuits, although none have yet been built to such an extent.

Only eight Houses of Worship have been built around the world (this includes one in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan that has since been destroyed), with a ninth soon to be constructed in Chile. Bahá'í communities own many properties where Houses of Worship remain to be constructed as the Bahá'í community grows and develops further. The Houses of Worship are open to the public, and are exclusively reserved for worship, where sermons are prohibited and only scriptural readings may be read. Most Bahá'í meetings occur in local Bahá'í centres, individuals' homes, or rented facilities.

Music by BOB ALCIVAR - The "Ladder to the Soul" collection is the latest offering by A/J Productions, adding meditative and spiritually uplifting music to our ongoing series. Bob is a Grammy and Golden Globe nominated producer, arranger and film composer. Among his many well known arrangements is "Aquarius/ Let The Sun Shine In" (gold, #2 Pop for two weeks, Billboard Pop Albums, summer 1969), recorded by The Fifth Dimension, now platinum bases on continuing sales. His composition "Carry On," from the feature film "Butterflies Are Free" staring Goldie Hawn & Edward Albert, was nominated as Best Song from a motion picture. Bob teamed with Lisa Janti in 1996 to form A/J Productions and, together, they began an ongoing series of recordings with spoken word interpretations by Lisa, and New Age music underscore composed by Bob. As a Baha'i, Bob considers this project as one of the most spiritual and fulfilling experiences in his musical career.
